A little 3D device floats next to your terminal. The 8-bit pet on its screen eats the tokens your sessions burn, celebrates when tasks finish, gets grumpy when tools error, and evolves as you ship.
Don't use Claude Code? Pick companion mode on first launch and it grows from tasks, habits, and play instead. Same egg, same evolution, zero coding required.
THE MUNCHLING IS A STRICT TOKIVORE.
IT CELEBRATES YOUR SHIPS. IT JUDGES YOUR ERRORS.
FREE • WINDOWS • NO TMUX REQUIRED
Claude Code fires official hooks like SessionStart,
PostToolUse, and Stop. Nomlings forwards
each one over localhost.
A file watcher reads token usage from your session transcripts. Counts only, never the content of your prompts or code.
A Rust state machine turns events into hunger, energy, mood and XP, rendered on a 64-pixel screen inside a floating Three.js device.
If the pet app isn't running, hooks quietly do nothing, so your Claude sessions are never slowed down, blocked, or interrupted.
Pick companion mode the first time you launch Nomlings, and every one
of those hooks and transcripts turns off. Nothing gets installed into
~/.claude, and nothing phones home. The pet grows from
care you give it directly instead.
Add a one-off task or a daily habit from settings. Checking one off is +10 XP and a snack, the same reward a finished Claude task gives, once per task per day.
A mood boost any time you like, plus +2 XP at most once every 30 minutes, so idle clicking never out-earns actually doing the tasks.
Snacks regenerate on their own and feeding earns a little XP too. Hunger rises slower than on a Claude pet, so it never goes hungry between check-ins.
Switch modes any time from settings; it takes effect after a restart.
Working while Claude works. Celebrating when a task lands (+10 XP, +1 snack). Grumpy when a tool errors. Alert when Claude is waiting for you, so go answer it. And always, always hungry: the Nomling is a tokivore, and your sessions set the menu.

Tools are +1 XP, finished tasks +10. Babies render at 2×, teens and adults at 3×, a single antenna then a full pair to prove it.
Same pet, new bodies. Every form shares the same moods, the same appetite, and the same judgment of your errors. Swap anytime from the settings panel: XP, level, and snacks stay put. The pack is a one-time unlock, and the device joins in too: nine more shell styles for the egg, plus free pick of screen and pet colors.
The original tokivore, and the one the whole family is named after. Comes with every install.
A pocket dragon: horns, side wings, runs hot. Token burn, but literal.
A chick with a head tuft and stub wings. Pecks at your tokens one at a time.
A ghost with a wavy hem and no feet. Floats upward, judges silently.
A robot with an antenna and block feet. Made of the same stuff it eats.
A seedling with twin leaves on a stem. Photosynthesizes a little, eats tokens anyway.
A frog with eye bumps and splayed legs. Snaps tokens out of the stream mid-air.
A little star that floats instead of standing. Glows a bit brighter with every token.
A mushroom with a spotted cap and its face on the stem. Decomposes tokens back into context.
A bee with antennae, side wings and a banded hem. Gathers tokens like nectar.

The app is free, forever. The one thing for sale is the Cosmetic Pack. Same moods, same appetite, same judgment of your errors, just a whole new body. Swap anytime: XP, level, and snacks stay put. Here is everything it unlocks:
Your sessions stay on your machine. Nomlings reads token counts and event types (never the content of your prompts, code, or conversations) and sends none of it anywhere. The app only reaches the network to check for a new version and to activate the cosmetic pack.
